Investment Review Officer

Functie

 

Purpose of job:

Perform a critical analysis from a credit perspective of any investment proposal to be submitted to BIO Board of Directors, in order to ensure a ‘4-eyes' principle approach for any new commitment.

 

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Interact with Investment Officers in order to structure adequately BIO commitments
  • Review any investment proposal and discuss adequate measures in order to mitigate credit risk
  • Perform a critical analysis on major assumptions on the project's projections
  • Write recommendations to CEO
  • Participate in the elaboration on adequate operational procedures in order to minimize the credit risk

Profiel

 

  • High Level education in Business Administration, Economics or Finance
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills
  • 15 years of relevant work experience in credit risk analysis
  • Independent problem solver
  • Detail oriented and critical
  • Team player  + excellent communicator
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Language skills: excellent English + French and Dutch
  • Interested in emerging and developing markets

The Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO) is a Development Finance Institution established in 2001 as a public-private partnership between the Belgian Government, through the Ministry of Development Cooperation, and the Belgian Corporation for International Investment (BMI/SBI)..

BIO's mission is to support and to strengthen the private sector in developing countries, by providing long-term financing to enterprises and microfinance institutions. The ultimate aim is to achieve sustainable economic and social prosperity and to eventually alleviate poverty in those countries.

BIO invests indirectly through financial institutions (commercial banks, microfinance institutions and non-bank financial institutions) and investment funds (closed-end funds and investment companies). BIO invests directly into SMEs and larger enterprises. BIO also provides non-refundable subsidies to co-finance feasibility studies as well as subsidies for technical assistance programs.

BIO is not tied to the interests of Belgium's domestic private sector and operates as an additional partner to the local financial institutions. Projects must demonstrate a clear balance between financial return and development impact. BIO is a member of EDFI (European Development Finance Institutions).
